United Machine Company, Wichita, Kansas, is celebrating its 50th anniversary and has recently in- stalled a EUROTECH Trofeo B481 SY2 multi-axis turn/mill.
The employee-owned firm specializes in precision machining (milling & turning) and assembly for the aerospace industry world- wide.
The new EUROTECH B481 (purchased through Kansas-Oklaho- ma Machine Tools-KOMT) features 11-axes, dual spindles, dual turrets and live tooling.
“We have been pleased with the EUROTECH and the service from KOMT,” noted United Machine’s Mike Wright, a 24-year company veteran. “It has dramatically re- duced our number of operations and cycle times.”
United Machine, which is AS9100 certified, started in 1967 with four employees in a 6,000-sq.- ft. building. Leonard McGinty, father of Tim, was the founder.
The company has grown through the years and now has 29 pieces of CNC equipment with 48 employees operating in 50,000-sq.-ft. of space.
The company works with alu- minum, steel, stainless, titanium and plastics. Its turning equipment can handle material up to 3″ in diameter and 18″ in length. Its milling equip- ment can work with material up to 20″ x 20″ x 40″. Its veteran work crew averages 14 years with the company.
